Our trained and credentialed members volunteer their time, equipment and expertise without compensation for communication assistance to public service events in and around Buncombe County. On occasion members will assist other Amateur Radio Clubs or ARES groups who need our expertise and operators for their public service events.
We provide auxillary volunteer communications to Buncombe County Emergency Services, other served agencies and Mission Hospital’s emergency Winlink communications system when requested. We are proud to support our professional first responders and our community in events, exercises and times of emergency.
Buncombe County ARES – Carolina Mountain Area Skywarn provides real time severe weather observations to the National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg, SC.
Buncombe County is in District 14 of the State ARES map.
